Adore Ring

from £2,350.00

Adore acrostic ring.

Amethyst

Diamond

Opal

Ruby

Emerald

Inspired by Victorian and Edwardian jewellery, where the first letter of the name of each stone spells out a word. They are romantic rings and were used to convey secret messages to each other.

I was first introduced to these rings when I saw them in the V&A jewellery collection. I’ve always had an interest in antique and particularly Victorian jewellery. The Victorians loved symbolism and there is so much romance and meaning weaved throughout their jewels.

What I particularly love about Victorian Acrostic rings is that they were given as a token of affection as opposed to engagement rings. I really love this sentiment and how they are not just a romantic gesture, but celebrate all types of love!

They are thought to have been invented by Jean-Baptiste Mellerio, Marie Antoinette’s jewellery designer.

I knew I wanted to create my version of one. Initially I was doing all sorts of designs. However, after lots of sketching, I decided I wanted to keep an antique feel and put my own spin on them. Almost a modern, version in my style. I also toyed with the idea of spelling out different words, but decided I love the romance of the original wording I really love them and how they sit, I hope you do too!

Solid recycled gold.
